Now accepting clients !

Welcome!

Whether you are here as an excited pregnant mother, a concerned partner, an interested family member, or a fellow doula-Welcome! I am a DONA trained Birth Doula based out of Davis, California serving the greater Sacramento area.

My personal philosophy about birth is that it is an amazing and life-altering experience. Throughout the birth experience women and their partners must be supported and cared for. Professionally trained Birth Doulas are one source of  such support. A Birth Doula does not take the place of people such as midwifes, doctors, partners, or family members, but instead can compliment any support system that a women may already have in place. A Birth Doula is not medically trained, rather, a Doula is very well trained in providing the essential emotional and physical support that women need during and after labor and birth.

Doulas can facilitate natural pain-relief, position changes, positive communication with partners, family members, and medical staff, advocate for her clients, and serve as a resource regarding a number of topics ranging from relief of pregnancy discomfort to breastfeeding. I invite you to explore Valley Natural Childbirth, and feel free to contact me with any questions you may have!

Best wishes, and happy birthing!

A word about Doulas:

The word "Doula" comes from the ancient Greek meaning "a woman who serves". We now use this term to refer to a trained and experienced woman (usually a woman, although men can be excellent Birth Doulas as well) who provides continuous physical, emotional and informational support to a mother before, during and just after birth. A Doula is professionally trained, and is very knowledgeable about pregnancy, childbirth, breastfeeding, and postpartum care. She is educated about the emotional and physiological changes that occur during pregnancy and labor, as well as effective methods for coping with such changes.

Studies have shown that with the support of a Birth Doula labors are shorter and have fewer complications. In addition, Doula attended births tend to produce babies that are healthier and that breastfeed more easily and successfully.

~ I do not discriminate against clients on the basis of race, ethnicity, sexual orientation, marital status, religious affiliation, income, education level, and will never turn any client away for any other discriminatory reason. I strive to serve all mothers to be who are need of labor support. ~
